RegHardware gives a detailed review of the Sony VAIO VGC-LA1. To recap, this Media PC features an Intel Core 2 Duo T5600 (1.83-GHz) CPU, 1GB of DDR2 memory, 300GB HDD, NVIDIA GeForce Go 7400 graphics, AverMedia Hybrid TV card, and a 19-inch widescreen (1680 x 1050) display. Here’s what they had to say:
Sony has engineered a superbly attractive piece of kit in the LA1 but at this price point [$2,620] we expect something that is far more serious and ideally has a larger screen. As things stand the price would need to come down significantly to make the LA1 really appealing to anyone who values performance and functionality over looks

Keane are to give out a free memory stick with their new single ‘Nothing In My Way’. Actually, I’m not a fan of Keane but it’s a great idea for them to give a free memory stick with their latest single. Jon Turner, the general manager of Keane’s record label Island, explained that the band were trying out the stick with a hope to develop it into a credible alternative to the CD by 2007. Read the original story on NME. The memory stick will be made available exclusively in HMV shops from October 30 and will cost around US$ 7.46.

This is interesting! LG is accusing Motorola of copying one of its phones, the LG KV2300 in order to create the Motorola KRZR K1m. The KV2300 started shipping in Korea in August while the KRZR K1m will be available later this month. Lee Hyoung-kun, LG spokesman, said that LG KV2300 is a flat, rectangular flip phone with high-gloss black finish, and the KRZR K1m is also a flat, rectangular flip phone with high-gloss black finish. Both are equipped with 1.3MP digicam and touch control keys in their fronts with strikingly similar arrangements. In addition, their dimensions are almost the same. However, LG seems happy that a company like Motorola decided to follow their design. And the LG spokesman added that “we don’t think Motorola intentionally imitated the look of the KV2300. But we are very flattered that a company of such caliber followed our design policy.”
