World’s First PC-less Cordless Skype Phone

by Jeremiah on November 22, 2006

skypedualmodestand.jpg

There’s an entire army of Skype phones that can make calls on both the Skype network and the regular landline, but the RTX Dualphone is the first that can do both without a PC. It comes with a charging dock, a base station, and a handset (duh!). The base station can connect into both your ethernet network and your landline, giving you freedom to take the cordless handset anywhere in the house (and your neighbor’s house). It will set you back £109.99 (around $205), so it’s not exactly cheap. The price for technology, mister.

How to make your Zune get along with Windows Vista

by Jeremiah on November 22, 2006

sm-zune-colors.jpg

It’s been going around that for some strange reason the Zune doesn’t like Windows Vista. Well Windows Vista is not even out yet, so I don’t know why anyone would bother. But just for the sake of satisfying that inner geek inside of all of us, there’s now a solution. We’ll tell you this much, it involves your Zune CD, WinRAR and a MyZune.msi patch. And if that doesn’t work you can always try a what Andre de Cavaignac did with a Microsoft-made disassembler for MSI, but don’t blame us if it turns your Zune into a brick.

Nintendo DS MP3 Player

by Johan on November 22, 2006

Nintendo DS MP3 Player

I can’t believe it! The Nintendo DS will soon be able to play music. How is this possible? Using a special cartridge that can accept SD memory cards, the console will locate and play MP3 files. The player will come with a 512MB SD card, but you can use larger capacity card. Unfortunately, video files are completely incompatible.

This special function will also be available for the Game Boy Advanced and the Game Boy Micro, and looks like it will lead to a complete repackaging of the DS as we know it.
