
Asus today introduced the latest member of their EeeBox nettop series. Dubbed as the Asus EeeBox EB1012, the computer is capable of playing back Full HD video in 1080p. The nettop is powered by a Dual Core Intel Atom N330 processor with an nVidia MCP7A ION graphics, a 250GB SATA hard drive and a 2GB of DDR2-800 memory (up to 4GB). Other specs include HDMI, Gigabit Ethernet, 802.11n WiFi, S/PIDF 5.1 audio jack, 4 USB 2.0 ports, an eSata port and an SDHC card readers. Sadly, there is no info on pricing or availability so far. Hitachi has recently unveiled the Travelstar 7K500, a 2.5-inch 500GB hard disk (7200rpm) that is specially build for laptops. The hard disk drive is ideal for multitasking, gaming and graphic-intensive applications on notebooks, gaming systems and professional external storage solutions. The Hitachi Travelstar 7K500 also consumes less power. In Idle mode, the drive uses only 0.69W and that goes to 1.8W during a read/write (0.5W/1.4W for the 5400rpm version). [Hitachi]

Ibase has announced a small PC that utilities Intel’s 1.1GHz Atom Z510 CPU with up to 2GB of DDR2 RAM, and a CompactFlash storage. The iBase CSB200-888 provides six USB 2.0 ports, two serial ports, a DVI-D video output, and a Gigabit Ethernet port. Unfortunately, Ibase did not release details of availability, pricing, or operating system support for the CSB200-888. The netbook provides a 10.1-inch LCD display with 1024×600 resolution, a 1.66GHz Intel Atom N280 CPU based on the 945GSE Express video chipset, a 1GB of RAM, a 160GB of HDD, and WiFi.
