MSI Sketchbook Concept Unveiled

Taiwanese PC manufacturer MSI has unveiled the Sketchbook concept at a pre-Computex event. The computer has a touchscreen display and a detachable QWERTY keyboard that flips over to reveal a large tablet input area with a stylus that can be attached to the screen. Philips is gearing up to launch another eco-friendly LCD monitor into the market namely the 225B2. This new 22-inch widescreen monitor is compliant with Energy Star 5.0, RoHS and EPEAT Gold, and consumes just 22.5W during normal operation. In terms of performance, the 225B2 provides 1680 x 1050 native resolution, 5ms response time, 250 cd/m2 brightness and 500,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio. It also comes with two 1.5W speakers and has D-Sub, DVI and two USB 2.0 connectors. The Philips 225B2 will go on sale in June for about 237 Euro (about $290). [Philips]

FIC Tycoon TVB00 10.1-inch Widescreen Slate PC

First International Computer, Inc. (FIC) today unveiled the Tycoon TVB00 10.1-inch widescreen Slate PC at Computex 2010. The gadget is powered by a 1.66GHz Intel Atom N455 processor, a large 10.1-inch 1024 x 600 capacitive multitouch widescreen display, a micro-SATA type 1.8-inch hard disk drive, a Broadcom BCM70015 Crystal HD advanced media processor for 1080p high definition video playback and up to 2GB of DDR3 667MHz support. Other features include WiFi, Bluetooth 2.1, a mini HDMI port and a Polymer battery that provides up to 3-hour of battery life. The 10.1-inch wide LED backlight touchscreen is large enough for reading eBooks, eNewspapers, eMagazines and interactive media programs. The Tycoon TVB00 is also capable of running Windows 7 Ultimate operating system. MSI is set to introduce its new tablet ‘WindPad 100′ at Computex 2010. The device sports a 10-inch 1024 x 600 capacitive touchscreen display, a 1.66GHz Intel Atom Z530 processor, a 2GB RAM, a 32GB SSD, an SD/SDHC card slot, a 1.3-megapixel camera, 3G, WiFi, two USB ports, an HDMI output and runs on Windows 7 Home Premium OS. LG Introduces 15-inch W-OLED Display At SID

LG Display introduces a new 15 inch W-OLED panel at the SID-2010. Measuring 384mm x 211mm x 1.7mm, the LG-Display W-OLED features a 1366 x 768 pixels HD resolution, a 16,7 million colors depth, a 200 nit (peak: 450nit) brightness level and a 100.000:1 contrast ratio. Silicon Power has added a new ultra rugged portable hard drive to its Armor series by introducing the A80. This particular drive meets the military’s MIL-STD 810F standards for shock and drop resistance, and is able to withstand depths of up to a meter underwater (for up to 30 minutes). Not only that, it also comes with a built-in LED status indicator light, a USB 3.0/2.0 connection interface and is available in three different capacities: 320GB, 500GB and 640GB. ASUS has proudly introduced the brand new ASUS ROG CG8490 gaming PC. Designed for hardcore gamers, the computer is powered by an Intel Core i7-980X six-core CPU with a massive 12GB of fast DDR3 memory. There are also two ATI Radeon HD 5870 graphics adapters in CrossFireX, with higher clocks, for the best DirectX 11 and Eyefinity experience. What’s more, the entire PC is overclocked, for a performance boost of up to 20%. The ASUS ROG CG8490 comes with an exterior inspired from ancient and modern armor of both Western and Easter cultures. HLDS HyDrive Optical Drive With A Built-in SSD

Hitachi-LG Data Storage Inc. (HLDS) today announced the HyDrive, which is known as the world’s first solid state drive (SSD) embedded ODD. Available in a 32GB and a 64GB of storage capacities, the first generation of the HyDrive is going to be available in August 2010, installed on the Family PC 102 series from Moneual. The bigger 256GB model with SATA 6.0Gbps interface will be released next year. What makes the HLDS HyDrive interesting is that it also supports Blu-ray disc. The Hydrive is able to read BD-ROM-R/RE (SL/DL) at 4.8x, DVD-ROM (SL /DL) at 8x, DVD+R/-R/RW at 8x, and DVD+R/-R DL at 6x. On the other hand, writing speeds are 8x for DVD+R/-R/RW, 4x for DVD+R/-R DL and 24x for CD-R/RW. [CDRInfo]
