Affordable Alienware Area-51 750i

Alienware is well known for its gaming PCs and laptops. And this is good news for you. The new Area-51 750i PC is now priced at only $1,049. You will get the Intel Core 2 Extreme QX9650 processor, Dual ATI Radeon HD 4870 X2 graphics cards, 8GB DDR2 RAM (wow!), Windows Vista 64-bit, and Optional Blu-ray burner. [Engadget]

It should be mentioned that the new 750i’s with those specs aren’t nearly that cheap. Two ATi 4870×2’s themselves would be over 1000 USD (this is however made clear in the original Engadget article :) )

Yes, the specs listed are nowhere close to the price that is listed. The configuration listed from Alienware is nearly 5 grand, not just over 1,000. A QX9650 processor runs about a grand alone and (as aforementioned by Jvnk, dual ATI 4980 X2’s run over a grand as well. Not saying this post is incorrect over all, just misleading. Again, however, this fact was made more clear in the original Engadget article. Just a misleading post.
