Apple has already upgraded its Mac Pro desktop with a pair of 3GHz quad-core Intel Xeon processors. And off course it is not cheap! The basic Mac Pro retails for $2,200. Replace the two dual-core 2GHz CPUs with the two quad-core chips and the price almost doubles to $3,997. And then you can buy 16GB of memory and the price will be $4,499.
