Cricket UM185C Wireless Modem

Here’s the latest wireless modem for Cricket’s 3G network, the UM185C. This wireless modem provides unlimited wireless internet service within Cricket Broadband coverage areas using its tri-band CDMA connectivity. The modem itself measures only 2.8-inch x 1.3-inch x 0.6-inch and weighs just 1.1 ounces, and features a swivel USB hinge, dual antenna with Rx antenna diversity and CD-less software for easy installation. If you’re interested the modem will set you back $139 plus another $40 per month for the service plan. [Press Release]

I’m looking for antenna for my cricket um185c. Can you help me?

I just bought the new UM 185c broadband card and I must say it is quite an improvement over the A600 modem I had previously. The UM 185c has fast speed and even without an antenna it picks up good reception, I did have an antenna for the A600 and now I will be buying the external adapter to fit the new UM185c I am sure it will run at top speed, the antenna for the cricket Um 185c can be found on ebay under “cricket antenna” depending on the amount of interception that you want 9,11,13,15 dbi is the price. I personally bought the 13db and had good reception, sometimes up to 2-3 bars but again the A600 was not a good modem to begin with.

I use the Cricket UM185C modem and have weak reception. I am going to look into the ebay-cricket antenna. What I am trying to do is use a Zoom 4501 router to setup a home network. Can anyone tell me if there is an external antenna that will boost reception and allow me to use the router? thank you

My last post I had asked for an external antenna for the Cricket UM185C, by external I meant a outside home mount (like through a window opening”
thank you

Despite what Cricket and the others say, it is NOT unlimited wireless broadband. All the 3G carriers have a 5GB per 30 day limit. How they all claim to offer ‘Unlimited’ service is beyond me.

I want to unplug my UM185C modem from the USB. I have no “safely remove hardware” icon to click on. So with the computer off and no lights on,shouldn’t I be able to simply unplug the modem without damaging anything?

As I understand it, after you use 5GB in a 30-day period, Cricket throttles your connection to slow it down. I have no idea how much they slow it down, but I’m guessing it’s slow enough to be difficult to use. So it’s limited by how much data you can get through the clogged hose.

@tucker : just close the connection manager and unplug, its as simple as that
