Apple has cancelled plans for offline tech support in India. Apple had announced ambitious plans for setting up a 1,400,000 to 1,500,000 square feet technical support center in Bangalore at an investment of 20 million dollars in March 2006. But later, Apple officials informed that the company is revaluating its operations and has thought of pulling back its Indian operations. Apple will be giving these employees a severance package of two months salary. Considering companies like Dell, IBM and many others who have off shore tech support in India, it is unclear why Apple decided to shut shop just over a month after it commenced operations. Steve Dowling, an Apple spokesperson, said that Apple have re-evaluated company’s plans and have decided to put our planned support centre growth in other countries. Via Times of India.
