I-O Data is preparing to launch their newest USB 3.0 external Blu-ray XL writer in Japan, the BRD-UT14X. The drive comes with a USB 3.0 connection interface, a 4MB of cache memory and provides write speeds of 14x for single-layer BD-R, 12x for double-layer BD-R, 6x for triple and quadruple-layer BDXL-R, 8x for single-layer BD-RE, 6x for double-layer BD-RE, 12x for Blu-ray discs and 16x for DVDs. The BRD-UT14X will start shipping in Japan from late April for 19,845 Yen (about $246). [I-O Data]
