Available in 1GB, 2GB, 4GB and 8GB capacities, these tiny flash drives measure 1.7 inch x 0.6 inch x 0.4 inch and has a 360-degree swivel cap that prevents the connector from being damaged when the flash drive is not in use. The gadget is compatible with Linux, Mac and Windows-based platforms (from 98 till Vista). Other features include password protection support, drive partitioning and ReadyBoost (Vista only). The price tag starts at $15 to $90, depending on the capacity. [Electronista]

I would like to know why I was able to set a password for my imation nano swivel 8gb flash drive using my mac book pro and why, when i bought a 4 gb imation nano swivel also, the password protection is encrypted. Same goes with the 16gb that my friend bought.
I have bought a 8GB nano flash drive and when i tried to password protect a file allthough it worked when i removed the flash drive from the computor and then replugged it in the file was not protected, I tried this several times with the same result.
I manged to e-mail imation and they have not replied(7 days ago)
I then deleted the Protection program.
Now i have started to use this drive and find i only have 5.8GB of space which means the protection eventually worked allthough it did’nt at the time.
My problem is that as i deleted the protection program i am unable to restore the protected file to get my space back,Have you any ideas how i can find the name of the protection program so i can re-install it as i know my original password or how i can restore the drive to it’s original state, Formatting only applies to the free space(5.8GB)
Regards
Norm
