I think this is a long overdue concept. It’s like the “black box” of external storage. The price is right on point for 2TB. The specs say that it is Fireproof to 1550° F for ½ hour. Hopefully if it houses critical data the fire department doesn’t take TOO long. About the only thing that it lacks is an Ethernet connection to function as a NAS, but hey, this will definitely do.
The article mention that it can protect against fire and water but for how long it can be in the fire or water without damaging the unit.
