Had to jump through all the hoops, tried to tell me if I bought another color cartridge I would be able to print. I tried to tell him that I have tried everything under the sun and it has nothing to do with the cartridge. Still on hold, they are going to send me a new print head. I will let you know what the outcome is. I never had this problem with my 100 dollar printer i had before, thats what I get for trying to save money on ink. My other printer lasted 4 years, not a problem, of course I could not print color pictures either.

Theresa
It`s all the symptons of a faulty print head.
I also went down the same route, replacing ink that was only half full etc.
The test page appears to print ok but, it will be missing some colours or black, hence documents won`t print.
You need to call Kodak or if you have the patience log on to their web site for live tech support, where you will probably get very frustrated running through their tests but, they will log the fault & give you a phone number to call & request a new print head, this is free because they are guaranteed for the life of the printer ( I wonder why ! )
They are also easy to fit but, very annoying & frustrating having the problem & waiting 5 days for a new one.
I should know I have had 2 new ones in 7 months.
Let us know how you get on, good luck !

I have had all the fun of everyone with the paper jam, my new issue is trying to print and nothing shows up on the paper, tried everything.
When it runs a test page it prints, then I try to print a doc and nothing. I get a very very faint print. This is the second time I have had this issue. In the last 2 weeks I have gone through 2 black and 1 color cartridge.
ANY IDEA ON HOW TO FIX?

Hi Kevin you are quite right , firstly let me say i have nothing to do with Kodak ,apart from buying the esp 7, and as for the many replys i have made ,they are only to update the progress of the printer and indeed if it had gone wrong i would have been on here and held my hand up ,and said so ,also i was hoping there would be a connection with so many people having problems ,to why this was happening , i dont concider writing here as a waste of time ,my brother has the esp 9 and his is brilliant,no problems at all ,his girlfriend has one of the lesser esp printers ,there again no problems , the Argos folk all commented on this machine and they speak highly of it ,but you are right i cant keep commenting on the esp printers ,time will tell ,nice talking with you very best wishes Brian

Brian; I have also been here ALOT - my initial post was back in April and have read all the posts since, however, I do not think that spamming the thread with posts about how good something is will change the fact that people are reporting issues with the printer. Issues that, for them at least, are not being resolved.

I have the ESP9 and I am very happy with it, it prints wonderfully and scans wonderfully and does what I would expect of a printer BUT having two people with success stories does not detract from those having problems.

The reported problems should be resolved by Kodak - for the benefit of everyone: a) to resolve those issues that people are experiencing b) to improve an already good product like you and myself have but until they are resolved this thread is going to constantly receive new posts from unsatisfied owners and until that happens - the postive posts are going to be out numbered by the negative posts! partciularly as the positive posts are made by a single person whereas the negatives are being made by many different people....

Thats a good idea Ralph, lol desigh or marketing team ,and as for waffling ,i will say again this is one hell of a printer ,,and Kevin i have been on here a lot ,but i would not like anyone thinking we are talking about a very bad printer , because this is far from the truth ,i stated that the ink usage was increadable ,and indeed it is ,and i have printed many many things ,and she still keeps right on going ,now you may not agree with what i say ,and you have a right to your own opinion, but the proof is in the pudding, and anyone is welcome to see this beautiful machine in action ,thats a invitation, thats how utterly brilliant i think the esp 7 is ,my very best wishes Brian

I couldn't agree more with Ricky. I knew that guy was waffling us because theree's no way that printer could print 500 sheets and still have half a cartridge left.

I solved my year long frustration and dumped the ESP-7 and bought a different brand. Kodak were well intentioned when they introduced the ESP series; unfortunately, what happened is a result of outsourcing. The standards in the Far East for many consumer items are way below what I would expect in North America. Some day the manufacturers will get their act together and make such products here. Maybe get Brian on the design or marketing team.

I too have had no issues with my Kodak printer, I've gotta say unlike Brian - I don't cover mine up, nor treat it like a lady! Treat 'em mean - keep 'em keen!

I also get exceptional quality photographs from it along with faultless scanning etc.

However, I won't be posting every other day to tell you all about it.

Brian,
It`s quite obvious you either work for or sell kodak printers, why else would you waste your time telling us how good it is.

I solved all the foregoing problems with my ESP-7 after one year of frustration at downloading updates ( extremely slow), paper jams, print head replacement , mcahine replacement , ad nauseam.

I dumped my printer and bought one that works. I would have thought better of Kodak from their reputation.

Chad's fix works - just to clarify a bit further - if you see the cleaning pad, don't spend 2 hours trying to push it DOWN, just slide it back (towards the rear of the printer) and it will work fine! This was on my ESP-9 which I have been very happy with - until now!

*******FIXED******** PAPER JAM ISSUE!!!!!
I finally figured out the paper jam issue in the ESP series. I figured out there is a cleaning cartridge that comes out on the left side of where the printer cartridges are that blocks the path on certain occasions. It is a stupid qwerky issue that kodak has yet to find and repair but it is an easy fix. All you have to do is slide the cartridge holder to the right and if you reach in to the far left side of the print cartridge track that should just easily pop back into place if you push it in.

Please understand this is a very easy fix but is you are unsure of what i mean I do not recommend trying.
