NEC Releases The World’s First Contactless Hybrid Fingerprint Scanner

by Johan on February 24, 2011

NEC has announced the commercial launch of the HS100-10, the world’s first scanner that can simultaneously acquire fingerprint and finger vein characteristics without having to touch your finger. Since the scanner scans both fingerprints and vein characteristics, this technology is more secure and harder to cheat. The device combines a conventional optical sensor with the company’s original finger data capturing method. The NEC HS100-10 will be exhibited at Pulse 2011 in Las Vegas this weekend, and will start shipping in May 2011. [NEC]
