Other World Computing (OWC) has started shipping their newest 480GB Mercury Extreme Pro SSD in the US. Powered by the new SandForce processor, this 2.5-inch SSD boasts a SATA 3.0 Gbps interface, TRIM support and promises to deliver read and write speeds of up to 285MB/s and 275MB/s, respectively. In addition, the drive also makes use of both Error Correction Code (ECC) and SandForce’s RAISE technology to avoid corruption and extend the lifespan of the flash memory cells.
