Plextor has just announced the availability dates of the 80GB and 120GB versions of an external drive that the company claims are shockproof; they can supposedly survive any drop, anywhere. The prices for the 2 units, which can be carried anywhere in a pocket, are to be around $169 and $260, respectively. The drives are expected to go on sale in May of this year, 2006. Here’s the latest from Bluedot Japan. They just announced their BDP-1200 Portable DVD Player with a 12 inch 800 x 480 display. The BDP-1200 will be able to play DVD±R/RW, SVCD and CD-R/RW discs and will also support Divx and MP3 files. For direct playback, the BDP-1200 features an SD / Memory stick slot. The Lithium Ion battery provides 3 hours of continuous playback. The BDP-1200 package comes complete with Remote Control, AV cable, Car charger kit and battery.
