Philips has introduced the Econova LED TV, which has been awarded the European Green TV 2010-2011 award by the European Imaging & Sound Association. The 42-inch LED TV uses the latest LED technology that reduces energy consumption by up to 60 percent, while delivering the best-in-class picture quality. The LED TV also consumes just 40W of power in eco-mode. What’s more, the Econova LED TV also features a Zero Power Switch, which reduces power consumption to 0W when the TV is turned off. What makes the Philips Econova LED TV more interesting is that it comes equipped with the solar-powered remote control. Its on-board battery is recharged by clean solar energy to reduce the impact on the environment. Watch the video after the jump.

The ability to vary the light intensity based on the amount of ambient light room is incredible. We need more solar panels, learning guides, how to educate people and make them change their habits.
