These consoles have overwhelmingly become the gaming method of choice, but there are plenty of other ways to game and explore new titles. Every gamer’s opinion will differ, but these are some of the most common complaints and advantages users can expect to encounter across different platforms. With this information, you can make an informed decision about the kind of gaming experience you want to have.

Consoles Are Stronger Than Ever

Traditional gaming consoles such as the PlayStation and Xbox represent the standard in gaming. Upgrades to the hardware and software in both continue to maintain their reputation as the top platforms. There are plenty of other reasons why they are typically considered the strongest options, and their robust capacity for memory, mechanics and player customization are certainly at the top of the list. If you are considering either of these consoles, consider that continual development has made them stronger. There are also many titles available from companies such as Univision Blizzard. CEO Bobby Kotick has continued to expand releases.

…But They May Not Offer the Best Graphics

Proponents of PC gaming often point to the inferiority of traditional console graphics as their motivation for ditching the PlayStation and Xbox. Indeed, a downfall of consoles is their lack of robust processing power when it comes to generating graphics. Despite continual advancements in both software and hardware technology, these consoles don’t have the core power that a PC does, and graphics typically suffer as a result. For the average gamer, console graphics are more than sufficient, but some professional and hardcore users protest the clear inferiority. It’s really an issue of individual preference and priorities.

PCs Offer Great Graphics

If graphics are, in fact, an important issue for you, you are probably looking at investing in a gaming PC. The core processing power of such a machine offers a much higher range of expendable CPU and thus will produce graphics of a much higher quality. In order to really see graphics at their best, however, it’s important to select a computer that will support the gameplay you want to do. Research all of your available options and choose the one which works best with the kind of gaming you want to do on your PC.

…But They Lack the Support of Other Platforms

Although PCs are stronger and generate better graphics than traditional consoles, they are typically a bigger investment and offer fewer titles to players. These are just a few of the reasons they are a less popular option despite being superior in several ways. Because of their lower sales, they are also likely to receive less support than their console counterparts. If there is a bug in the console version of a game, for example, it will likely get fixed quickly. Issues with PC games may be resolved slower or not at all because of the smaller user base.

Mobile Games Are Expanding Their Domain

The third option might not be considered real gaming in some circles. It is, nonetheless, one of the most rapidly emerging platforms for users to engage with. Mobile gaming through apps has moved beyond the likes of tetris and now offers users an impressive range of titles to download and play on devices like phones. Gaming companies have taken notice and begun developing more titles for the mobile audience. Bobby Kotick, for example, acquired a number of mobile properties that have been added to the Univision Blizzard umbrella. Companies will likely continue expanding on this platform.

…But It’s Still Limited in Comparison

Despite the advancements that have been made, mobile games offer nowhere near the experience that a PC or console does. That said, if you are on the go, you have options for gaming from some of the biggest developers. No matter what console you choose, you can expect a unique experience and a fun time. Your selection will depend on your priorities, but with this information in hand, you can be informed about your options. You deserve the gaming experience you want, and with the right platform, you can get it. There’s no right or wrong choice, but there are many factors to take into consideration. Before ruling out any of these options, take the price, range of available titles and quality of mechanics into account. These factors, as well as the pros and cons listed above, will help you make the right decision when shopping for a gaming platform.
