Nikkei Business Daily, a Japanese newspaper, reports that Sony is able to produce a fire-resistant plastic made from discarded DVD discs. The new fire-resistant plastic has a composition of old DVD discs that stand at 85%, styrene elastomer, inorganic filler powder, and a new fire retardant. Sony claims that this fire-resistant plastic works much better than the ones available in the market and takes a green slant becuase its main ingredient is waste material. The new DVD disc plastic is going to be used for PC casings for example.
