Samsung Adds Full Disk Encryption To Solid State Drives

Wave Systems and Samsung announced today their first self-encrypting solid state drives that automatically encrypt information as it is saved to the drive. It’s designed to deliver some of the fastest encrypted storage available and offers customers eight and half times the shock tolerance compared to standard notebook hard drives. The drive will be available in both 1.8 and 2.5-inch form factors, with storage capacities ranging from 64 to 256GB, and will come bundled with Wave’s Embassy management software. Available now through Dell for unannounced price yet. [ComputerWorld]
