Samsung will be releasing the BD-UP5000, a dual format High-Definition (HD) optical disc player next October. It will fully support both HD-DVD and Blu-ray Disc formats and their interactive technologies, HDi and BD-Java. They’ve also decided to market a dual format player focusing on the consumer demands, which are to have both formats for cheap. Samsung’s new optical disc player is expected to retail in Europe next October for around $400 (not too shabby), as for stateside… who knows?
