Audi officially reveals the 2009 Q5, which “utilizes the same underpinnings as the A5 coupe and A4 sedan/wagon. That means the Q5 has a longitudinally mounted engine rather than the transverse powerplant found in the smaller VW Tiguan. Compared to the Q7, the Q5 looks substantially more compact than its hefty sibling and is much tidier design overall, keeping with Audi’s current pretensions of being a premium sporting brand. Tilmann Schlootz phas received a Michelin Challenge Design Award 2008 at Detroit Auto Show 2008 for the Audi Snook design. This multi-directional engine features “a sphere-wheel and enables the driver to navigate and steer the auto-stabilized cain in every direction.” [GadgetTastic]

Audi has recently showed off their new version of Audi’s R8 V12 TDI concept at the Geneva Motor Show. The new R8 is powered by 6.0 liter V12 diesel motor that produces 500 horsepower and 738 pound-feet of torque. The company claims this concept car can accelerate from 0 to 62 mph in just 4.2 seconds. Other features include a glass roof, all-LED headlights, an increased use of carbon fiber, revised front and rear aprons, and larger air intakes all around. Audi will release a handset with an MP3 Player and NAV System. Known as the Audiphone, it “has the ability to start your car on cold mornings, find your vehicle in a crowded car park and store photos taken by the onboard cameras.” There is no further info on this mobile phone. The all new 2008 Audi RS6 Avant is powered by a twin-turbo V10 TFSI engine with a 6-speed tiptronic transmission that produces an impressive 580hp and 480 lb-ft torque. The 2008 Audi S5 is powered by a V8 FSI engine producing 354horsepower and 325 lb-ft torque. The car accelerates from 0-60mph in 5.1-seconds.
