Toshiba has announced the release of their super charge ion batteries aka SCiB. This lithium-ion based battery features charge-up time of a only 5 minutes, translating into a 90% capacity. It also has a life span of over 10 years according to Toshiba. While Energizer might be big out there, Toshiba is moving on up and can’t compare to those other mediocre brands out there.

M2E Power has created a concept of a rechargeable phone battery that can be charge with kinetic energy. These batteries cost around the same to produce as current batteries, even using less metals. M2E Power announced that devices with kinetic batteries will be seen by 2010. In case you didn’t know, kinetic energy is electricity produced by natural motions such as when moving your hands, etc.
