
Two new DSLR cameras have been released by Mamiya. Known as the Mamiya DM22 and DM28, both cameras provide almost any photographer affordable access to a truly professional digital camera system. The Mamiya DM22 comes with a 22-megapixels of CMOS sensor, meanwhile the DM28 has a bigger 28-megapixels CMOS sensor. Unfortunately, these high-end cameras are not cheap. Casio just released two new cameras from its Exilim series in the form of the EX-Z280 and EX-Z33. The EX-Z280 is a 12.1-Megapixel pocket camera with a 26mm lens, a 4X optical zoom, a 35.7MB onboard memory (upgradable via SD/SDHC slot), and a 2.7-inch LCD display with 114,960 pixels. Priced at $179, this camera is also able to record 720p video.
Available in black, light pink, vivid pink, silver, and blue, the EX-Z33 provides only a 10.1 Megapixel CCD, a 3x optical zoom, a 2.5-inch LCD display with 230,400 pixels, and a 16.9MB onboard memory (expandable via SD/SDHC slot). Sony will release two new alpha DSLR cameras that adopt a new generation of Exmor CMOS sensors and BIONZ image processors. The A550 (14.2MP) and A500 (12.3MP) digital SLR cameras come jam packed with a 3-inch LCD screen that tilts 90 degrees up or down and two Live View functions. The A500 has a 230,000 pixel Clear Photo display, while the A550 features a 921,000 pixel Xtra Fine display. The Sony A550 and A500 will retail for $950 and $750, respectively. The Exilim Zoom EX-Z450 is the latest addition to the Casio’s point-and-shoot camera series. It is a 12.1MP shooter that adopts Exilim Engine 4.0, a 4x optical zoom, and is capable of recording video in 720/24p. In addition, the camera also has an ISO range of 64 to 3200, a 35.7 MB of internal memory, and a new Automatic Focus mode that automatically detects the photo subject even if it is not a human face. The EX-Z450 should automatically adjust exposure and focus to best capture the non-human (or human) subject. It is also capable of high-speed burst shooting at up to 10fps at a reduced resolution. Kodak Europe expands its M-series digicam by releasing the EasyShare M420. The 10MP camera features a 4x optical zoom Schneider-Kreuznach Variogon wide-angle zoom lens (35 mm equivalent: 28–112 mm) with image stabilization and blur reduction. The camera also has a 3.0-inch (7.6 cm) wide-angle viewing color LCD with auto picture rotation. Available in Plum, Silver, Red and Black, the Kodak EasyShare M420 retails for around $245. Canon has announced a new DSLR camera called Canon EOS 500D (known as Canon Rebel T1i in North American and Canon EOS Kiss X3 in Japan). This consumer level DSLR camera features a 15MP sensor and 1080p HD video recording at 20fps.
