
Gone will be the days of abusing the copy machine at work for personal copies, at least if you live in Japan that is. Canon Japan has just rolled out this new imageRUNNER ADVANCE series of copiers that will require you to give a scan of your fingerprint that has been reproved by the machine before allowing you to make any copies. This will be far more secure than the machines now that use access cards which can be shared around the office. [Akihabara]

Canon has managed to develop a machine that helps detecting breast cancer without using X-rays. This machine will save patients from exposure to radiation, while the diagnosis is completely pain-free. The machine is based on laser and ultrasonic wave technology. Canon says that the first clinical studies are scheduled to begin at Kyoto University soon. The company expects to commercialize the machine within three to five years. [CrunchGear]

Canon has decided to release the CanoScan 9000F in Japan. This high-end scanner provides a maximum color resolution of 9600dpi with a color depth of 48 bits and an improved scanning times. It is capable of scanning up to four 35mm slides or twelve 35mm filmstrips at one time. The CanoScan 9000F adopts the company’s Film Automatic Retouching and Enhancement (FARE) Level 3 technology that removes dust and scratches. Measuring 11-inch x 3.7-inch x 1.6-inch, the Canon imageFORMULA P-150m Scan-tini should be compact enough to fit into a briefcase. This portable scanner is able to scan letter-sized documents at a rate of 15 pages-per-minute or 30 images-per-minute with duplex scanning. The duplex feature on the P-150m allows it to scan both sides of the document in a single pass and is able to remove blank pages as it scans if required. Canon today released the FS-CF and FS-CF Pro portable Compact Flash DTE recorders that are specially made for use with Canon’s HDVi camcorders and mini-DVi camcorders. These gadgets allows you to record your HD videos to Type-1 Compact Flash (CF) solid-state media. Once the video footage has been recorded, you can either connect the FS-CF recorders into your Mac or PC via a USB 2.0 port or directly insert the CF card into a card reader. Canon today unveiled a new photo printer namely the Canon PIXMA iP2702 that is able to print a 4800 x 1200 color resolution picture in less than a minute. This inkjet printer adopts Auto Photo Fix II technology that produces high quality prints. The Canon PIXMA iP2702 also adopts ChromaLife100+ System allowing printed photos to survive up to 300 years when using genuine canon ink and paper. Canon has officially announced the EOS Digital Rebel T2i entry-level all-in-one dSLR camera. As a successor to the Rebel T1i/500D, the new camera features a class-leading 18.0 Megapixel CMOS Image Sensor and an increased light sensitivity for low light photography. The new T2i is also capable of recording up to 1080p 30fps videos. The Canon EOS Digital Rebel T2i is scheduled to be released to U.S. dealers in early March 2010, and will be sold in a body-only configuration at an estimated retail price of $799.99. Canon today unveiled the EOS 1D Mark IV, which is a high-speed digital SLR camera developed for professional photographers. The new camera features a 16-megapixel Canon CMOS sensor, Dual DIGIC 4 Imaging Processors, and 14-bit A/D data conversion, all at 10 frames-per-second (fps), with the widest ISO range Canon has produced to date.
