Mini Droplet CD Player: Overpriced and Ugly

by Nicole on November 7, 2007

Mini Droplet CD Player

Not only is this CD player small, but it costs a whopping $2,495 to $2,995. Other than that it has the same features such as 24-bit, oversampling player with digital circuitry, and a gold-plated RCA. Nothing special, it’d be better off as a decoration for your basement=P.

Cathay PK-24 CD Player

Cathay PK-24 CD Player

CD players for the most part are out of date because of the whole hype with iPods and such. But here’s something that might make you change your mind. This small but cool grand piano is exclusively in Asia, can play all your CD’s and has FM radio, and keys that are playback controls. Try not to think of it as a real piano however, because you might get your personal CD collection mistaken for your non-existent piano skills=P.

Marantz CR201 CD Player

The Marantz CR201 CD player has a nice mirror surface that opens to reveal the CD drive. While playing, a set of blue LEDs illuminates the CD so you can see it hypnotically spinning right through the mirror panel. The player also uses an “intelligent 3D sound” system that ensures “accurate and high quality sound reproduction”. The Marantz CR201 CD player is currently available from AudioCubes for $759.

Shoe CD Player

Shoe CD Player

Here is an interesting concept design. The Shoe CD Player houses a CD Player, speaker, tweeters and a small knob for volume looks quite contented. The controls for play, stop, forward and back are embedded into the side and look hip. I would bet you would have some real “skipping” problems with this one.

Butterfly Knife CD/MP3 Player Concept

by Jeremiah on August 9, 2007

butterfly-knife-cdmp3-concept.jpg

MP3s may own the music these days, but it still doesn’t motivate lazy people (like me) to digitize their CD collection. This CD/MP3 player duo concept is an MP3 player and a very very portable CD player. Squeezing the CD in its butterfly-knife body this player spins the CD in the nude, feeding your naked CD fetish and can be used as a self-defense weaponry. It’s suggested that the device rips CDs for you (weee!!) so this could be the true end of the mighty disc-era.
