by Johan on October 8, 2010 · 0 comments

California-based gadget manufacturer Cherrypal today announced the availability of its new sub-$200 tablet computer, the CherryPad America. It was designed for those who are looking for an affordable, powerful, high quality, and low energy-consuming tablet computer with the ability to run the Android operating system. The CherryPad is powered by a 800MHz Samsung ARM11 processor, the Android 2.1 OS with all Android applications. An upgrade option to 2.2 is planned for the fourth quarter 2010. What’s more, the CherryPad America also features a 7-inch resistive touch widescreen display (no stylus needed) at 800×480 resolution with a built-in gravity sensor, a 256MB of DDRII RAM, a 2GB NAND Flash, a micro SD card reader and Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g. Additional specs include a 3.5mm headphone jack, a built-in speaker, a microphone, a DC port and an optional external 3G modem. The CherryPad America’s Polymer 3200 MAH battery has a run time of 6-8 hours. Housed in a sturdy aluminum case, the Cherrypal CherryPad Android tablet retails for $188 a pop. [Press Release]

CherryPal Low Power Cloud Computing

If you have $249 to spare and you want to try out cloud computing, grab this CherryPal desktop computer.  It packs a 400MHz Freescale MPC5121e mobileGT processor, 256 MB RAM, 4GB NAND flash storage, and 802.11g Wi-Fi.  It consumes only 2 watts of power, and utilizes 80% fewer components than normal desktop computers.  It is definitely the easiest PC to use, not to mention the fact that it could last a decade or longer due to its non moving parts.  Of course with cloud computing you need to hook up to the cloud (which in this case is ran by Amazon) but this is definitely a great move towards better accessibility and green computing at the same time.  Ready later this month with 50GB of maximum storage to start with.
