
The Sound Box is not an ordinary docking station for your iPad and iPod touch. It is a radio and an alarm clock with an integrated hard drive to store your favorite music. Designed by Emanuele Canova, the Sound Box comes equipped with a couple of vase-styled wireless speakers. It’s a cool concept that will hopefully hit the light of production. Japanese artist Hironao Tsuboi has designed the Vol Portable Speaker for British American Tobacco. Composed of aluminum, the speaker reduces the complicated construction of sound systems to a single unit. It measures at only 2.2-inch in diameter and 1.4-inch in height. The speaker can be switched on/off by turning the dial, while the volume can be adjusted by rotating the dial further. Powered by a Lithium-ion battery, the lightweight speaker also provides an audio jack, a USB port and a 5V DC input jack. The portable speaker is available in black, silver and blue shades. A Russian designer has creatively designed the Numlock USB Stick. This storage device is encased in a metal sleeve that functions as a 5-wheel combination lock, restricting access to the secret data. Tokyoflash is back with its latest watch design. Dubbed as the Kisai Kaidoku, this LCD Watch displays the time using words instead of numbers. You just need to read the flashing words in order to know the current time. It’s that easy. The date can be read in exactly the same way by pressing the lower button. Watch the video after the jump. Royal College of Art graduate Ki Hyun Kim has designed the Alternative Alarm Clock, which allows you to be woken up in the morning by the smell of coffee instead of beeping sounds. The Alternative Alarm Clock is actually a combination of an alarm and a two-socket electric outlet, allowing you to plug in any electrical device such as a coffee maker, a fan, a lamp or a radio. When the alarm is activated, the electric outlet supplies power to these electrical devices. It’s a cool concept that will hopefully hit the light of production. [dezeen]

Kim Joonmin has designed the Electrolux Dishwasher L concept. It is actually a combination of a dishwasher and a lamp. The idea is to have a functional light stationed right above the dining table, so that you have easy access to routine dishes like plates and spoons. Tokyoflash Design Studio is back with its new watch concept namely the UV Index LCD watch design with touchscreen. The watch features a sensor, which measures the UV index when outside so that you know when you should take care and protect yourself. The UV Index measures the level of UV radiation from zero to eleven. This concept watch design also has an “always on” LCD display with a colored LED backlight. It is also touch sensitive so the functions can be operated by touching the screen. The time is displayed with hours in the center and minutes around the outside in the same position as minutes on a clock face. The date is shown in a similar way. Moonhwan Lee has designed the Lepen Soldering System that looks like a thick pen. The solder pen docks into the holder for charging, which also doubles up as a smoke absorber. The Lepen Soldering System helps users to feed, melt, and desolder solder in an easy and comfortable way. Watch the video after the jump. Read more

Kim Su Yeon has designed the printer concept that removes the ink from the printed-paper. The Ink Remover Printer uses the laser technology to clear the ink from the paper, so that it can be re-used. Sang Keun Sim and Kyowon L&C Design Team have designed the WOW Plasma Plus wireless water sterilizer that uses electrolysis to eliminate harmful bacteria. The gadget kills harmful bacteria from fruits, vegetables, kitchen appliances, baby bottles and chew toys without chemical detergents. Sadly, the WOW Plasma Plus is only a concept at this moment.
