D-Link Xtreme N DIR-685 All-in-one Router

D-Link has finally released its Xtreme N DIR-685 all-in-one router that was debuted at 2009 CES in January. The router features a built-in draft N Wi-Fi module allowing the device to communicate with network attached storage devices to display streaming videos and pictures, weather forecasts and other live streaming Internet contents. The D-Link Xtreme N DIR-685 also supports an optional 1TB 2.5-inch SATA drive that can be inserted into the side of the DIR-685. There is also a built-in FTP server that gives users access to documents, photos, music and other local or networked content. Additional features include two USB ports, two Gigabit Ethernet ports, Energy Star specifications for savings of up to 30 percent, and a Wi-Fi Scheduler can turn off the Wi-Fi radio automatically at a specified time. D-Link has unveiled its newest USB-powered monitor. Dubbed as the SideStage, the monitor is able to both connect to your computer via USB, and power itself via USB. It features a 7-inch LCD monitor with 800×480 resolution and comes with both landscape and portrait modes. D-Link today introduced the new SharePort technology that allows users to share ordinary USB accessories on a home network by simply plugging them into a router. The new technology is currently available on D-Link’s 802.11n routers. You just need to upgrade the firmware to activate this feature. I think the SharePort technology will make our life easier. D-Link Releases Three New Green WiFi Routers

D-Link has rolled out a new home network WiFi routers that adopts D-Link’s Green Ethernet technology to save up to 40% in power usage. The three Wi-Fi routers that features this green technology are D-Link Xtreme N Gigabit Router DIR-665, Xtreme N Duo Media Router DIR-855 and the Xtreme N Gaming Router DGL-4500. These devices are capable of detecting cable length, link status, and adjusting power accordingly instead of running at full power all the time. The company is expected to ship its first high-powered dual band draft 802.11n wireless router for the digital home. D-Link has made plans to reduce the price of the 802.11n to compete with the various router brands out there such as: Belkin, Linksys, and SMC. It’s going to at about the $50 mark or below and of course boost it’s popularity and sales.
