
SGI today announced the immediate availability of Octane III, the company’s first personal supercomputer that provides whisper-quiet operations, easy-to-use features, low maintenance requirements and support for standard office power outlets. The Octane III supports up to 80 high-performance cores and nearly 1TB of memory for unparalleled performance. It is also easily configurable with single- and dual-socket node choices, and provides a wide selection of performance, storage, graphics, GP-GPU and integrated networking options.
The Octane III is currently available in a variety of powerful configurations:
- Ten dual-socket, Quad-Core Intel Xeon processor 5500 series-based nodes.
- One dual-socket, Quad-Core Intel Xeon processor 5500 series-based workstation with advanced nVidia graphics and/or GP-GPU card support.
- Nineteen single-socket, Quad-Core Intel Xeon processor 3400 series-based nodes.
- Nineteen single-socket, Dual-Core Intel Atom processor-based nodes.
In addition, this personal supercomputer supports Microsoft HPC Server 2008, SUSE Linux Enterprise Server and Red Hat Enterprise Linux operating systems. DosPara is back with another powerful desktop PC ‘Prime Galleria HX’ for the Japanese market. The machine is equipped with a 2.8GHz Core i7-860 processor with a maximum of 3.46GHz in Turbo boost Mode, a NVIDIA GeForce GTX260 graphics card, a 4GB of PC3-10600 RAM, a 1TB of HDD, a DVD SuperMulti Sata drive and Windows Vista Home Premium. Epson introduces a new addition to its Endeavor family of desktop PCs with the all new AY300-V. This new desktop PC is offered in two different configurations, either with a Celeron 430 CPU and 1GB RAM or a Core 2 Duo E7500 CPU and 2GB RAM. While, the rest of the specs are the same for both models, a 160GB HDD, an optional DVD drive or DVD Super Multi and a choice of either Windows XP Pro or Vista Business. Dell has introduced its first integrated desktop model to its Vostro line-up in the form of the Vostro All In One. This new business desktop offers a 19-inch display, a Core 2 Duo processor, a 2GB RAM, a 160GB hard drive, an optional webcam, an Ethernet port, serial ports, parallel ports, VESA mounting and an optional WiFi connectivity. Packard Bell is back with a new iXtreme Desktop PC that features a sleek glossy black chassis design. This high-end system can be equipped with a Core 2 Quad, Core i7 or Phenom II X4 processor, a 1GB of NVIDIA GeForce GTS 250 graphics card, up to 12GB of RAM, a maximum of 3TB of storage space, a DVD or Blu-ray drive, an optional DVB-T tuner as well as WiFi and runs on Windows Vista Home Premium Edition OS. Dell Inspiron Slim and Mini-Tower desktop is now available in eight new colors including Piano Black, Pure White, True Blue, Formula Red, Tangerine Orange, Spring Green, Plum Purple and Promise Pink. The base configuration of each desktop is also customizable and there are ample choices of processors, memory, optical disc and hard drive. Acer has confirmed the availability of its business desktop PCs ‘Veriton X270′ series in North America. The new system offers a choice of intel processors, including the Intel Core 2 Duo, an integrated NVIDIA GeForce 7100 graphics, 500GB SATA hard drive, up to 4GB of DDR2 RAM, a gigabit Ethernet port, nine USB 2.0 ports, a HDMI port and a DVD writer. It also comes with a PCI Express x16 slot, a PCI Express x1 slot and two PCI 2.3 ports in case you want to upgrade the system. This is the slimmest all-in-one LCD PC in the world from MSI. Dubbed as the AP1900, the computer measures at only 35mm in depth. Weighing at 4Kg, the computer offers Intel Atom processor, energy-saving and noise-reduction functions, integrated webcam, dual track quality microphone, stereo 3W speakers, and Multi DVD burner.
