The Philip’s DVB-T Player sports a 10.2-Inch screen, more than enough to view the big game on along with an analog tuner and external antenna. It also features a seven-day Electronic Program guide for picking shows carefully. The program guide also allows you to play files off SD cards. Unfortunately the battery life is only 2.5 hours,so if you’re thinking about watching an all-day marathon, think again. No word on pricing or availability yet.
Loewe connect has 3 sizes ranging from 32 to 42 inches, each with a built-in network media player, USB port, Ethernet port, wifi, and and an interegated HD tuner. No price or release date is available but will be on display at IFA 2007.
KindyElec’s latest PMP looks ordinary but it has fairly good picture quality. Including both analog and DVB-T TV tuners. Aside from that you get all the basic features such as the LED-7 inch screen, 40 GB hard drive, multi-format memory card reader, 2 hour battery life, DivX as well as other audio and video formats. Unfortunately if you want one, you’ll have to order a minimum of 200 units.
The Toshiba Gigabeat U-series packs a wallop into a tiny box. It holds 2 gigs worth of music, comes with an FM Radio, and gives you 20 hours of playtime per charge for under $100. You can get it in silver or black.
This iPhone-like Venzero Slickr Media Player, unfortunately, was not what was expected due to its lack of substance. German-made, it’s a simple media player, not much to it at all. However, its design is nice to look at.
The MPIO ML300 digital audio player offers you up to 10 hours of playback with just an AAA battery, pretty impressive. The gadget also features seven equalizer presets, an integrated FM radio and recording, a simple monochrome display, and 1GB of storage space. Once released internationally, the pricing of the 1GB version may be as low as $40, which isn’t too bad. This music player is ‘cool on a budget.’
iRiver’s T60 MP3 Player comes with a design that reminds me of a Toblerone chocolate. The gadget features a mini-joystick knob for music controls and a lovely display screen. It is powered by a single AAA battery. Data transfer is achieved via a miniUSB port. The iRiver T60 retails for approx. $168 (after conversion). There’s no doubting the T60’s musical credentials – it’s right up there with the best in its price bracket and sounds fantastic. The fact that it takes a single AAA battery also makes it a very flexible player for those who want to travel light. But it is quite expensive and there are just a few too many flaws for us to seriously consider recommending it; the lack of USB power for connection being foremost among these. If you’ve got this much money to spend you’d be better off opting for the 2GB iRiver Clix 2 or its 4GB version for a few quid more.
