Marantz's Entry-level AV Receiver

Marantz has entered the entry-level AV receiver market by releasing the NR1501. Priced at $600, the AV receiver comes with four HDMI inputs, onboard decoding for Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio, and analog video upconversion. The NR1501 also a bit smaller than most receivers. Sadly, there is no 7.1 analog inputs, multizone functionality, and satellite radio connections. [Crave]

Next Gen Blu-ray BD-P1400 and BD-2400 from Samsung

Samsung is upgrading their earlier BD-P1200 blu-ray model with these BD-P1400 and BD-2400 players in Sept/Oct respectively. There’s nothing really significant to these upgrades besides the audio format support for Dolby TrueHD and DTS HD. They both come with the standard 24 frame support, HDMI 1.3, and ethernet as the old model. You can get the 1400 for $549 and the 2400 for $599, the only difference is that the 1400 lacks that mind-blowing HQV video processor. But if you’re itching for HD entertainment we suggest grabbing today’s 1200 at $599, it’s not exactly worth waiting a couple of months unless you’re a fan of minor tweaks.
