Mouse Computer from Japan has decided to launch its netbook that comes equipped with a built-in optical drive later this month. Known as the LB-F1500W, the netbook boasts a 1.6GHz Atom processor, 160GB hard disk, 1GB RAM, 10.2-inch (1,024×600) display, and Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition OS. The burner features dust proof enclosure and adopts Pure Read Technology for better CD (music) voice data sound quality, and Power Read for playing badly scratched DVDs or CDs. The new LG GH22 super multi drive allows users to burn data on a DVD at 22x high speed writing. The burner only needs approx. 4 minutes and 30 seconds to write 4.7GB data. The drive also has a 2MB memory and buffer under run prevention technology for fast and safe data writing. Its Lightscribe feature allows the GH22 to print images and texts on the DVD. The GH22 also supports horizontal and vertical installation. No word on pricing so far. [AVING]
Canon comes out with great products and the DW-100 portable DVD burner is no exception. It comes with a feature to burn videos from Canon camcorders not only in standard DVD format but in AVCHD DVD format too. In other words, it’s compatible with Canon camcorders. This baby should arrive late April for $269. It looks good inside and out, you can’t go wrong.
If you’re looking for a stylish and slim external DVD burner, then you might need the Logitec LDR-PMD8U2. Measuring at just 18mm thick, the burner comes in an aluminum case. This USB powered external DVD burner is available only in Japan for $138.
