
Velocity Micro has recently unveiled the new VMUltra Drive. The device adds more storage space and ports for your computer. It connects to your notebook, desktop PC, or ultrabook via a USB port. The VMUltra Drive features a DVD R/RW optical drive, a 500GB 2.5-inch SATA hard drive, an integrated SD card reader and a 3-port USB 2.0 hub. I-O Data has announced the availability of the BRD-U8DM external Blu-ray drive and DVR-U24DM external DVD burner, which support DTCP-IP. For your info, the DTCP-IP is a specification for copy protection of copyrighted content that is transferred over digital interfaces in home networks that adhere to IP. Under this specification, digital content can be shared securely between devices in a user’s home but not shared with third-parties outside the home network. Buffalo claims its new DVSM-PSS58U2-BK as the world’s slimmest and lightest external USB 2.0 DVD burner. Measuring 131mm x 14.5mm x 130mm and weighing 250grams, the device provides a maximum writing speeds of 8x for DVD-R/+R/+RW, 6x for DVD-R DL/DVD+R DL/DVD-RW, 5x for DVD-RAM and 24x for CD-R/CD-RW. The Buffalo DVSM-PSS58U2-BK is also bundled with CyberLink’s PowerDVD 9, MediaShow 5, Power2Go 6, InstantBurn 5 and PowerBackup 2 software. LG comes back with an ultra-thin external DVD burners that look as sleek as their function. The GSA-E50N and LightScribe-equipped GSA-E50L work with Windows Vista and can burn DVD+R / RW, DVD-R / RW, and DVD-RAM discs at up to 8x speeds and are powered by USB. Available in black or white versions, the GSA-E50N will cost at around $122, the GSA-E50L will retail for approx. $136.

Here is the thinest DVD burner in the world today. Measuring at just 7mm thick, Panasonic’s new Multi DVD burner was made for notebooks. No word on pricing yet.
