
Sony Optiarc America has rolled out the DRX-S90U dual USB bus-powered slim external DVD burner. The device can burn dual-layer DVD+R at 8x, regular DVD+R and RW media at 6x and CD-R and RW at 24x speeds. The unit requires two USB 2.0 ports to power the burning speeds, and works with both Windows (XP or higher) and Mac operating systems. Pioneer will release the DVR-XD10J external DVD writer in the Japanese market next month. Measuring 133mm x 14.8mm x 133mm and weighing 240 grams, the DVD burner features the company’s PURE READ+ technology, allowing the drive to read and recover a damaged sector on a DVD disc in an attempt to deliver the best quality. Apart from having their new 12x internal Blu-ray writer ‘PX-LB950SA‘, Plextor has also introduced their latest 24x internal DVD Writer called the PX-L890SA. Specs-wise, the drive features a 1.5MB of buffer memory, a SATA connection interface and supports for LightScribe (disc labeling) technology. In terms of performance, the drive provides write speeds of up to 24x for DVD-R/+R, 12x for DVD-R/+R DL, 8x for DVD+RW, 6x for DVD-RW, 48x for CD-R and 24x for CD-RW. Targeted towards netbook users who are always on the move, this slim drive features a USB 2.0 connection interface and provides write speeds of up to 8x for DVD+R/-R, 6x for DVD+R DL, DVD-RW, 5x for DVD-RAM, 4x DVD+RW and 24x for CD-R/-RW. Lite-On has begun selling their newest 24x internal DVD Writer in the US. Samsung has officially announced the availability of the Samsung SE-S084D external DVD writer. Designed to be slimmer, smaller and more compact than any rivaling product, the drive uses a single USB port for power and data in order to eliminate the need for an external power adapter. The Samsung SE-S084D is also 20% smaller than conventional DVD writers and 25% lighter than Samsung’s conventional DVD writer. The device provides a variety of speeds across varying media types such as 24X CD-ROM, 24X CD-RW, 8X DVD±R recording, 5X DVD-RAM recording, 8X DVD+R Dual Layer recording, 6X DVD-R Dual Layer recording, 8X DVD+RW recording and 6X DVD-RW recording. Most of us still rely on the DVD technology. Pioneer knows that and has decided to release two new DVD burners in the form of the DVR-2920Q internal DVD writer and DVR-X162Q external DVD writer.
