
Panasonic offers a revision of the LF-P968C which is capable of burning DL DVD +/- at 4x, DVD +/- R at 8x, and RAM at 5x. The portable DVD player measures 135mm x 135.6mm x 14.8mm and weighs 290grams.No word on pricing or availability yet.

The DVD-LX87-S and DVD-LX87-K are the new portable DVD players from Panasonic that features an 8.5 inch screen, an FM transmitter, and have 12-hour of battery life. Measuring 242mm x 173mm x 46.6mm and weighing 1.1Kg, these DVD players are also support MP3, WMA, JPEG file formats. Both models will hit stores in Japan this April.

Toshiba has recently announced its two new media recorders, the RD-S600 and S300, but without HD-DVD or Blu-Ray support. The recorders feature a 600 and 300GB hard disk, a DVD burner, an HDMI port, 720p/1080i upscale, and a digital TV tuner. Pricing and availability are still unknown.

TEAC has released the UX-3 Pi, a universal DVD player that supports SACD, video and audio DVDs. Priced at around $6,900, the player also has an HDMI 1.3 output, a D4 and a Firewire port.

Marantz has launched their two new universal DVD players with an HDMI 1.1 output and DVD upscale to 1080p. They support audio and video DVDs, CDs, SACDs, DivX and WMA. The players are available either in LARGE size (DV9600) or ULTRA SLIM (DV6001 – 60mm thick). No word yet on pricing and availability.

IGN reported that Sony Pictures will be releasing the animated film Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children on DVD as a Limited Edition Collector’s Set. The DVD will include 2 discs and will feature a ton of special features, including 10 collectible postcards, English movie script, the biographical character booklet, Final Fantasy VII Advent Children: Venice Film Festival Footage, Deleted Scenes, and many more. The DVD set will retail for US$49.95, and will release on February 6 next year.
