
Hong Kong-based multinational firm PocketBook International today unveiled its new A10 Android tablet/e-reader at the IFA event in Berlin. The gadget comes jam packed with a 10.1-inch (1024 x 768) TFT LCD display, the Google Android 2.3.3 Gingerbread operating system, a 1GHz TI OMAP 3621 single-core processor, a 512MB RAM, a 4GB storage capacity, and an SD card slot(up to 64GB). Measuring 244mm x 207mm x 15mm and weighing 670 grams, the Pocketbook A10 also features a 2-megapixel front-facing digital camera, Wi-Fi, and an optional 3G. Its 6600mAh rechargeable battery provides up to 6.5-hour of operation time. Pocketbook A10 owners can also connect to Bookland.net to browse and download free open source eBooks. The Chinese manufacturer known as Hicooper has just unveiled a new e-Book reader called the 5” B1. It will come with a 800×480 color screen and include 2, 4 or 8GB of internal memory. A 1600mAh battery will be used and will support the following files for e-Books: PDF, CHM, EPUB , TXT, HTML, RTF, PDB, DJVU, IW44, FB2, PRC, MOBI, TCR. It will also be able to be used as a PMP and support HD movies up to 720p. [Akihabara]

Unlike most mobile internet devices (MID), the MIDhybrid from 1Cross Tech is rather unique, it combines an MID and an e-Book reader into one package. Powered by an unnamed Marvell-made ARM processor, the device boasts a 6-inch 600 x 800 e-ink display on the left side, a 3.2-inch 480 x 320 resistive touch LCD on the right side, a touch panel keyboard, a VGA webcam, a microSDHC card slot, WiFi, Bluetooth, 3G (optional), GPS (optional) and runs on Android 1.6 OS. Creative is reportedly working on its first e-Book reader called the MediaBook.This new device is said to be based on Creative’s Zii platform and will feature a color touchscreen display, text-to-speech function, an SD memory card slot, 3G, WiFi and multimedia capabilities (pictures, videos, radio). The latest Sony PRS-700 Reader Digital Book will be released very soon. It is actually the third generation e-Book reader from the Sony. Weighing 283 grams, the PRS-700 is portable and lightweight. Its touchscreen function is similar to the iPhone, so you need only slide your fingers across the screen to flip through the pages. The e-Book reader comes with a 6-inch LCD display with zoom in and zoom out capabilities. If you want to buy a new e-book reader, then you can choose the Astak EZ Reader. The gadget is touted as the lightest, smallest and thinnest e-book reader in North America today. Weighing at only 7.8 ounces and measuring 7.2 inch x 4.7 inch x 0.4 inch, the EZ Reader utilities e-ink and e-paper to display text and images. The device also offers a long battery life.
