
The Astek Mentor is a Windows CE 5.0-based e-reader that boasts a 6 inch E-Ink touchscreen display with 170dpi, 4 grayscales, and 800 x 600 pixel resolution. The gadget also sports Samsung S3C2443 400MHz processor, 64MB RAM, 4GB flash memory, WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity, two USB 2.0 ports, a 3.5mm headphone jack and an SD card memory card slot. Compared to the original Sony Reader, it comes in silver or blue, feature a slightly different layout, twice the internal memory, and maybe an updated display. No word on pricing or when it will be available yet, but it is said to be at $299.

Hewlett Packard showed off its new e-book reader during 2007 HP Mobility Summit in Shanghai, China. The device is a concept of next generation e-book featuring intuitive interface. You can flip pages of book content in the reader as if you turn pages of real book. You can enjoy photo book function by utilizing Snapfish, HP’s online photo website. The company official also mentioned that this eBook reader is still a prototype, so it will take time to launch as a real product to research more, develop dedicated software, and receive feedbacks from customers.
