ASUS 8-inch 64-grayscale e-book Reader

Asustek Computer will release a new e-book reader with an 8-inch 64-grayscale TFT-LCD screen without backlight in October 2010. The LCD panel of Asustek’s e-book reader is provided by Chimei Innolux (CMI), which makes it with a special process to improve reflection. The display also supports a fast response time. iRiver Cover Story Released In China

Several Chinese online magazine such as Sohu.com and 21.cn.com have started selling the iRiver Cover Story. This eReader features a 3.5-inch touchscreen e-paper and supports ePub, PDF, FM2, TXT, HWP, DOB, PPT, XLS, MP3 and WMA file formats. Measuring 126mm x 162.8mm × 9.5mm, the gadget also has a mini USB port, a 2GB of internal memory and an SD/SDHC card reader for storage expansion. [Akihabara]

The Netronix PocketBook 602 e-book reader has been approved by the FCC, so this eReader will be available in the US market very soon. The gadget features a 6-inch e-Ink display with a 532MHz Freescale ARM11 processor, an optional Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, 3G/3.5G wireless data and a customized Linux OS. The Netronix PocketBook 602 supports PDF, ePUB, FB2, HTML, TXT, PRC, MOBI, RTF, DOC, JPG, and MP3 file formats. No info on pricing at this moment. [Wireless Goodness]

iRiver Story Touch Edition Unveiled

iRiver has unveiled more info about the Story Touch Edition. Measuring 126mm x 162.8mm x 9.5mm, the upcoming e-book reader features a 6-inch e-ink touchscreen display, a 2GB of internal memory and an SDHC memory card for storage expansion. The iRiver Story Touch Edition also supports ePub, PDF, TXT, FB2, DJVU and CBZ format e-books, not to mention DOC, PPT, XLS and HWP Office files. There is also a microphone, so you can use this e-book reader as a voice recorder. What’s more, the gadget supports several audio files formats such as MP3, WMA and OGG. Gemei GM2000 Color e-book Reader

Chinese portable media player manufacturer Gemei has entered the eReader market by releasing the GM2000. The gadget uses a colorful LCD display instead of the black and white e-ink display. The Gemei GM2000 supports pen writting, which allows you to take notes on eReader with handwriting. The gadget is also able to play videos just like a PMP.
