It seems that Brother wants to play in e-Book reader market by releasing the SV-100B. Dubbed as a “Document Viewer”, the gadget comes equipped with a 9.7 inch display at 1,200 x 825 resolution (150dpi), can display up to 5000 pages, 83 hours of battery life, and a microSD slot. It comes with a 2GB microSB for storing up to 10,000 pages. The e-Book reader can be connected to a PC via Bluetooth. No info on pricing or availability so far. [Brother]
iRiver Japan enters e-book reader market by releasing their own e-book reader. The device will be able to handle PDF documents and features a simple joystick control scheme, an SD memory card slot, and audio file playback. It seems that this gadget is a rebadged version of the Netronix reader that was released last year. [Engadget Japan]
The Onyx Boox is a new Kindle 2 competitor that boasts a 6 inch 16 shades of gray display with touchscreen capability. Other features include Wi-Fi connectivity, a 512MB of internal memory, text-to-speech functionality and support for PDF, HTML, TXT, MOBI, JPG, BMP and MP3 formats.
