
Samsung is ready to release a revamped version of its STORY Station external hard drive that comes with the eSATA interface offering a super fast data transfer speed of up to 3Gbps. Available in 1TB, 1.5TB, and 2TB of storage capacities, the storage device is also backward compatible with USB 2.0 interface with a slower transfer rate of 40Mbps.
The 3.5-inch Story Station Plus drive is encased in aluminum and features Samsung’s low standby power design, which reduces standby power by 96% to 0.1W from the usual 2.5W. Samsung will release the STORY Station Plus worldwide very soon. The 2TB model is priced at $299. [Press Release]

Still remember the Asus O!Play HDP-R1 media player hat we mentioned back in July? Asus today announced the availability of this gadget in the US market. Priced at $99.99 each, this media player is compatible with a wide variety of codecs with 1080p resolution including MPEG1/2/4, H.264, VC-1, and RM/RMVB. The Asus O!Play HDP-R1 also has eSATA and Ethernet ports. [Engadget]

QNAP Systems has finally released the QNAP NMP-1000 networked media player that was debuted at 2009 CeBIT. The device supports BitTorrent Server, FTP Server, remote web browser access, and DLNA compliant. The QNAP NMP-1000 can function as an external USB or eSATA drive to your PC. The gadget supports most of famous multimedia file formats including XVID, H.264, H.263, WMV9, VC1, AVI, MPEG/MPG, MKV, FLAC, WAV, WMA, AAC, PCM, AC3, and OGG. PhotoFast’s G-Monster-eSATA/USB device is currently available in 32GB, 64GB and 128GB capacities. The device provides read and write speeds of 175MB/sec and 100MB/sec, respectively. The PhotoFast G-Monster-eSATA/USB will be released at the end of this month in Japan. [Product Page]

Green House has launched new Express card and PCI Express eSATA devices called the GH-EXC-ESA2. It features two eSATA slots (3.0Gbps), a JBOD external drive, and supports RAID 0/1. with a PCI Express version also available. Both are Windows XP and Vista compatible at the moment.
