I-O Data has just added a new external DVD writer to its range by announcing the DVRP-U8C. Coming in five different color options: red, blue, brown, black and white, this portable drive has a USB 2.0 connection interface and is capable of providing write speeds of up to 8x for DVD-R/+R, DVD+RW, 6x for DVD-RW, DVD-R/+R DL, 5x for DVD-RAM, 24x for CD-R and 16x for CD-RW. Here’s the newest addition to Samsung’s external DVD writer line-up, the SE-S084F. Aimed at netbook and mini PC users, this portable drive comes with a USB 2.0 connection interface and provides a variety of speeds across different data media types including 24x for CD-R/-RW, 8x for DVD-R/DVD+R and DVD+RW, 5x for DVD-RAM and 6x for DVD-R/+R DL and DVD-RW. Not only that, the drive also makes use of both the WriteMaster technology, which enables multitasking on the PC and high speed writing, even in lower performance PC, and the Tilt Actuator Compensation technology for reliable writing of all disc areas. Buffalo is set to drop their newest 24x external DVD writer for the Japanese market. Dubbed as the DVSM-24U2, the drive is equipped with a USB 2.0 connection interface and provides write speeds of up to 24x for DVD-R/+R, 12x for DVD-RAM, 8x for DVD-R/+R DL & DVD+RW, 6x for DVD-RW, 48x for CD-R and 32x for CD-RW. In addition, the drive also comes bundled with a number of software utilities from CyberLink including PowerDVD 9, PowerDirector 8 HE, PowerProducer 5, Power2Go 6, InstantBurn 5 and PowerBackup 2. ASUS hits back with their new slim external DVD writer called the ‘Extreme Slim External DVD-RW Drive’. Measuring just 14mm thick, this slim drive features a brushed aluminum finish, a USB 2.0 connection interface, a 1MB of buffer memory and is capable of providing write speeds of up to 8x for DVD-R/+R/+RW, 6x for DVD-RW and DVD-R/+R DL, 5x for DVD-RAM, 24x for CD-R and 16x for CD-RW.
