A-Data hits back with a new line of USB 3.0 external hard drives called the NH03. Coming in 1TB, 1.5TB and 2TB capacities, these 3.5-inch drives feature a USB 3.0/2.0 interface, a built-in 256-bit AES hardware encryption, a one-touch backup button and promise to deliver transfer speeds of up to 140MB/s on USB 3.0. Toshiba hits back by bringing you a new line of external hard drives called the STOR.E ALU2. Available in both 2.5-inch (320GB, 500GB and 640GB) and 3.5-inch (500GB, 640GB, 1TB, 1.5TB and 2TB) form factors, these drives come equipped with an aluminum enclosure, a USB 2.0 interface, an 8MB of cache memory and promise to provide a transfer rate of up to 480 MB/s. The STOR.E ALU2 External Hard Drives will hit Europe, Middle East and Africa later this month, however, there’s no word on pricing yet. [Press Release]
LaCie has once again expanded its rugged external hard drive series by launching the Rugged eSATA. Unlike most external HDDs, the Rugged eSATA comes with both USB 2.0 and Power eSATA interfaces. On top of that, the drive also features a unique scratch-resistant aluminum shell, internal anti-shock absorbers and a shock-resistant rubber bumper, and is able to provide transfer speeds of up to 36 MB/s via USB and 90 MB/s via eSATA. Transcend has introduced the new addition to its StoreJet external hard drive series. Known as the StoreJet 35T, this compact 3.5-inch drive is available in 1TB and 1.5TB storage capacities and features a USB 2.0 connection interface, a OneTouch auto-backup button and makes use of Transcend’s TurboHDD USB technology for enhanced transfer speeds. In addition, the drive also comes bundled with StoreJet Elite software that offers advanced 256-bit AES file and folder encryption. Seagate rolled out latest FreeAgent Go external hard drives that come in several new colors. I think the company wants to attract holiday shoppers. The hard drives are still available in the same 250GB, 320GB, and 500GB capacities for $120, $150, and $200, respectively. Just remember that for those who register their FreeAgent Go between November 28th and New Year’s day, they will receive a bonus multimedia package including 50 free songs from eMusic and some other kewl goodies.
