Buffalo has dropped another external SSD (Solid State Disk). The drive comes with USB 2.0 a pretty good capacity of a hundred GB in a credit card sized hard drive! Buffalo is expected to release in Japan in the near future for approximately $885.

If the 1TB external hard drive is not enough for you, Western Digital now offers its My Book external hard drive with a full 2TB of storage capacity. That includes the My Book World Edition II, the My Book Pro Edition II, and My Book Premium Edition II models. These hard drives retail between $749 and $799 depending on the model.
The Lacie Big Disk Extreme+ comes equipped with three interfaces including FireWire 800, FireWire 400 and USB 2.0. Inside the drive case, the mechanisms spin at 7200 RPM and feature 32MB of combined data cache. The hard drive is available in 1TB and 1.5TB configurations for $349.99 and $599 respectively, a 2TB model is coming in August for $849.
SimpleDrive External Hard Drive from Pininfarina has a One-Click backup button that allows you to back up your important data or only selected files with a single click and with Hi-Speed USB 2.0. The built-in capacity meter also allows you to view the utilized disk space. What makes this hard drive special is that it has a blue circle of light on top which indicates the amount of space left on the drive. The device is available in five colors and six sizes: fire red (160GB), pearl white (250GB), sapphire (320GB), onyx (500) and charcoal gray (750GB and 1TB). The 160GB model starts at $100.

LG has released the LG GSA-E40L in the European market for $90. It is a new 18X External DVD Writer with Light Scribe. The drive also sports 18x writing on DVD±R media, 10x on DVD±R DL and 12x on DVD-RAM. CD-Rs can be burned at 48x maximum, while the recording speed for CD-RW is 32x. The external DVD writer has a durable case that allows both horizontal and vertical placements. It is compatible with Windows 2000, XP and Vista.

The Toshiba PA35 External HD-DVD Drive is the inexpensive way to do HD-DVD on your computer. It gives you HD video and sound, and also allows you to burn the standard DVD. Unfortunately, the Toshiba PA35 only allows you to read HD-DVD discs with no burning capability for them. But for ~$370, there’s not too much to complain about.
