Samsung has officially announced the availability of the Samsung SE-S084D external DVD writer. Designed to be slimmer, smaller and more compact than any rivaling product, the drive uses a single USB port for power and data in order to eliminate the need for an external power adapter. The Samsung SE-S084D is also 20% smaller than conventional DVD writers and 25% lighter than Samsung’s conventional DVD writer. Measuring 131mm x 14.5mm x 130mm and weighing 250grams, the device provides a maximum writing speeds of 8x for DVD-R/+R/+RW, 6x for DVD-R DL/DVD+R DL/DVD-RW, 5x for DVD-RAM and 24x for CD-R/CD-RW.
