
Apple has recently updated its Mac Mini by releasing a new model with a faster processor and graphics card. Priced at $599, the entry-level Mac mini features a faster 2.26 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor with a 2GB of DDR3 1066 MHz memory, a 160GB hard drive, five USB 2.0 ports, FireWire 800, an nVidia GeForce 9400M integrated graphics and a SuperDrive. Meanwhile, the $799 Mac mini provides a 2.53 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor, a 4GB of memory and a larger 320GB hard drive. And finally, the Mac Mini Server that comes with two 500GB hard drives for a total of 1TB of server storage in the tiny 6.5-inch square by 2-inch tall Mac mini enclosure. Other World Computing (OWC) has updated its Mercury On-The-Go lineup with the 750GB model. The new model spins at 5200RPMs and boasts a 8MB of cache. The FireWire models use Oxford chipsets, while the USB 2.0-only model sports a JMicron bridge chipset. The OWC Mercury On-The-Go Pro 750GB 5200RPM triple interface FireWire 800/400 & USB 2.0 model retails for $270, while the FireWire 400/USB 2.0 model is $250 and the USB 2.0-only model sells for $230. If you are always on the go, then you might need an ultra portable external hard drive that offers a huge storage capacity. Apricorn today announced the new Aegis Mini, a 240GB pocket drive that is claimed to be the world’s largest capacity 1.8-inch external hard drive. The hard drive runs at 4200RPM and has 2MB buffer memory. Measuring 17mm X 68.5mm X 86mm and weighing at just 3.7oz, the storage device is also available in 80GB, 160GB and 240GB storage capacities.
