Zero-Electricity Fridge

The Zero-Electricity Fridge is another conceptual portable device with advanced technology. Designed by a team at stanfrod, funded by Adam Grosser, came up with a device that essentially doesn’t require any electricity to operate. As the device heats—put it over a fire, it automatically triggers some sort of coolant. It then acts like a powerful cold pack, turning anything from a jug to a hole in the ground into a twenty-four-hour minifridge. A great device for doctors to keep vaccines at proper temperatures in areas with no electricity. [Thedesignblog]

Discover the new Built-In Refrigerator from Sub-Zero which features a new Air Purification system for cleaner air and fresher foods. This new Subzero refrigerator uses NASA technology designed filtration system that replenishes the air every 20 minutes while eliminating bacteria, odors, and microscopic contaminants – as well as the ethylene gases present in some foods that cause premature ripening and, ultimately, food spoilage. Hopefully the pie won’t smell like the Tuna anymore! [Gizmodo]

High Tech Fridge is RFID-Enabled, Tells You Recipes

Combining advanced features with a slick design, this fridge uses “RFID technology to informs users on what items it contains, possible recipes, and your food’s sell by date.” It also alarms the user when hot food is placed in the fridge, and automatically turns compartments off when not in use. And to top this eco theme off, all materials are biodegradable or recyclable. No word yet on availability. [Yanko]
