Horizon Fuel Cell Technologies has showed off the Hydrofill MiniPak at CES 2010. This battery charger is designed to charge a wide variety of gadgets via USB port. This eco-friendly gadget extracts the hydrogen from water and stores it in special cartridges, which are then placed inside the Hydrofill MiniPak. Sadly, there is no info on pricing or availability at this time. Word has it that the Hydrofill MiniPak will be available for purchase before the end of 2010. [DesignBoom]

Toshiba will release their first Toshiba Dynario Fuel Cell in Japan on October 29th, 2009. The first run consists of only 3,000 units after which Toshiba will gauge consumer reaction before extending the launch outside of Japan. Once fueled with an injection of methanol solution from its dedicated cartridge, the fuel cell starts to generate electricity that is delivered to a mobile phone or a portable media player via a USB cable. Dynario’s hybrid structure uses a lithium-ion battery to store enough electricity to charge two typical cell phones simultaneously. Each Toshiba Dynario Fuel Cell retails for 29800 Yen ($328), while each set of liquid refilling cartridges (5 units) is priced at 3150 Yen ($34). [Gizmodo]
