Garmin has decided to release the Nuvi 510 for the European market. This GPS navigation system features regional maps of Benelux, Italy and Greece, Spain and Portugal. The gadget is priced at around €300. The Garmin Nuvi 510 has a 3.5 inch touchscreen display, an 8 hour battery life, FM traffic support and a microSD memory card slot. [NaviGadget]
Garmin is now offering the special edition Garmin Edge 705 GPS Navigation System for a limited time only. This navigation gadget comes jam packed with a heart-rate monitor, speed/cadence sensor and detailed street maps with turn-by-turn directions and lots of POIs. Garmin has a new GPS system for pilots. The Garmin GPSMAP 495 helps pilots by giving them necessary information required to fly safely from start to finish. It provides a high resolution terrain database that features various options including “terrain and obstacle alerting, pop-up alerts, and customizable minimum clearance limits that give audible terrain alerts at specified altitudes.” The GPSMAP 495 will be made available in April for $1,595. You won’t have to worry anymore of being lost, with the new GPSMAP 60CSX you can find your way in almost any conditions. It has several performance-enhancing features including a removable microSD card, high-sensitivity GPS receiver for improved satellite reception regardless of location, barometric altimeter for extremely accurate elevation data and electronic compass for determining heading and direction. Overall GPSMAP is a good choice because it offers a good reception and has nearly unlimited capacity for tracklogs stored to the data card.
Garmin is now releasing a phone of all things (Garmin is a GPS company). The Nuvifone will feature a cool interface, a 3.5 inch touchscreen display, High Speed 3G access, Google Local search, and geotagging capability with the camera. No word on pricing or availability. The CES 2008 is showcasing the Garmin Navigation device. It features sunlight-readable 4.3″ touchscreen display, an internal GPS antenna for a more lightweight and compact design, a vehicle suction cup mount, vehicle power cable, dashboard disk, and owner’s reference manual. Along with a preloaded map of Canada, US, and Puerto Rico! You’ll never have a grumpy, nagging wife upset at you for not asking for directions again.
After releasing the X800 and M800, ETen comes back with the new glofiish X600. The gadget is an entry level device which lacks of 3G and VGA resolution. The X600 will be available in two versions – without or with the Garmin XT mobile navigation software. Garmin’s software can collect traffic information from the internet using GPRS, EDGE, 3G, HSDPA, and weather forecasts, while the radar information can be updated for free for 30 days through Garmin Online. The gadget will be on sale in November, 2007.
