Magellan has announced that DigitalGlobe’s high-res satellite and aerial maps are now available for its eXplorist and Triton Outdoor GPS system. The DigitalGlobe high-resolution maps have been created using satellite and aerial imagery, which will provide users access to virtually anywhere on the planet. Panasonic will launch two new GPS systems in the form of the Strada CN-H500WD and CN-H500D. These in-dash car navigation systems feature “Motion Control” user interface, allowing you to manipulate the map with hand gestures. Both navigation gadgets also provide an integrated DVD/CD player, a 7-inch (800 x 480) LED-backlit touchscreen display, a 1Seg TV tuner, SRS WOW HD, a 60GB of internal HDD and the Panasonic PEAKS image processor. Garmin International Inc. today announced the Astro 320 handheld dog tracking receiver. Thanks to an included redesigned antenna, the maximum range between the Astro 320 and a Garmin tracking collar has been increased by nearly 30 percent and can track for up to nine miles on flat terrain. The Astro 320 can track up to ten dogs per receiver at once. What’s more, the device is fully compatible with Garmin’s DC 20, DC 30, and DC 40 dog tracking collars and accessories. In addition to the pre-installed basemap, the Astro can be loaded with 100k or 24k Topo maps or photo-realistic BirdsEye Satellite Imagery ($29.99 annual subscription required). This new dog tracker has 1.7GB of on-board memory available for loading maps, and a microSD slot for pre-loaded cards. The new waterproof Garmin Astro 320 requires two AA batteries that provides up to 20-hour of operation time.
