Pharos released two new mid-range GPS navigation gadgets called the GPS Drive 250 and the GPS Drive 150. Priced at $299 and $199 respectively, these devices offer user interface that seemed to have been updated. Both units will be on the market later this month.

Amex Digital today unveiled their new GPS phone with 3D display called G-Plus. Measuring 114mm x 49.8mm x 17mm, this Triband (900/1800/1900MHz) handset features an embedded GPS Antenna, 128MB + 64MB RAM, 2.4 inch 3D QVGA 262K Colors TFT, dual speakers, a 1.3MP camera with video recording capability and MiniSD slot. Pricing info is still unknown.
Kenwood Pen-Based Navigation System Concept

First seen at the Tokyo Motor Show, this navigation system right now is merely a concept. It’s both a combination of traditional road maps and interactive gps systems. All you have to do is point with the pen on the map and it will be displayed on the navigation unit, it then gives you driving instructions as well as important info on your destination. The Kenwood might even give you printed out maps for interacting with the pen. This would be perfect for those long road trips or even backpacking around Europe if this becomes more than a concept.

Blaupunkt’s TravelPilot Lucca 5.3 is a slim GPS navigation system with a 4.3 inch display and includes European safety camera data pre-loaded into its memory. This navigation system also supports TMC live traffic information receiver and text to speech feature that will pronounce street names so you can always keep your hands on the wheel. The gadget also plays videos and music from the SD/MMC card slot. No info on pricing or availability yet.
Blaupunkt TravelPilot Lucca 3.5 Edition

German Blaupunkt has introduced a new GPS navigation system called TravelPilot Lucca 3.5 Edition. It features an anti-glare, high-contrast 3.5 inch TFT touch screen color display in 4:3 format, Centrality Atlas III Dual Core 400 MHz processor, and some maps for UK/ Ireland and major roads of Europe and detailed maps of other 21 Western European counties offered on a separate DVD. Other specs include SD/SDHC/MMC card reader, Integrated TMC receiver, Display of speed limits with visual and acoustic speed limit warnings, and Error-tolerant input of city names. Pricing and availability are still unknown.

Here is a new entry level mobile phone that comes equipped with GPS. Dubbed as the Hop1883, the handset be offered by Hop-On Wireless operating in California. This tri-band (900/1800/1900 MHz) GSM phone is lightweight and comes in candy bar form factor. The phone has a 2.8inch 240 x 320 resolution (QVGA) screen, the embedded SiRF Star III GPS receiver chip, and a 2MP digital camera.

FCC has approved the Mitac E100 Rugged Tablet PC with GPS. The navigation gadget will be available in the States very soon. It has an 8.4 inch touchscreen, and is powered by Intel processor at 800MHz with 1GB of RAM. The UMPC also offers 802.11 b/g wireless, Bluetooth, and an optional 3G WAN network antenna.
